OVERVIEW

Wauconda Community High School District 118 is a comprehensive high school system located 45 miles northwest of Chicago.  The school district is comprised of one high school, one junior high and three elementary buildings.  Wauconda High School, with an enrollment of 1260 students, is fully accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education and the North Central Accreditation Association.

 

FACULTY

The faculty of Wauconda CUSD 118 is diverse in its background, training and experience.  Approximately 45.2% hold Bachelor Degrees, 54.8 hold Master’s Degrees and above.

 

SCHEDULING

Wauconda High School has a traditional scheduling with eight 45 minute periods three days a week.  The high school has successfully implemented a Modified Block Schedule to support teaching and learning opportunities on Wednesday and Thursday.  The block schedule allows for ninety minute classes to enhance learning.

 

GRADING SYSTEM & RANK

Most classes are non-weighted.  Honors and AP courses are high-weighted. All full credit courses are averaged into a student’s grade point average (GPA).  Physical Education and Drivers Training, which is required, is not included in the student’s (GPA).

COLLEGE ATTENDANCE

 

Approximately 85 % of the graduation class of 2005 of Wauconda High School continued their formal education.  They entered over 30 different colleges, universities and technical schools.
